SM4 meters are base on a simple idea. They are mainly used during avalanche monitoring and various environmental monitoring.

The SM4 sensor uses a cable with temperature sensors at 20 cm intervals, mounted to a pole or mast. Measurements are delivered at minute intervals via GSM and published on our website.
Read moreThe SM4 sensors were developed with avalanche monitoring in mind and have been used that way since the beginning. You can watch snow-depth development in real time, and the sensors also provide important information about snow layering.

POLS develops sea sensors that measure ocean temperature, based on the same idea as the snow sensors. They are commonly used in fish farming and can be up to 15 meters long.
Read morePOLS Engineering is an Icelandic company that manufactures SM4 meters. The founder worked as a snow observer in Ísafjörður and set out to design sensors that are cheaper, safer, and simpler to install than previous snow-depth solutions.
